Îngeri bătrâni is an exhibition of hand drawings commissioned by artist Timothy Stanley for his experimental fiction Măiastra: A History of Romanian Sculpture in Twenty-Four Parts.
Măiastra follows the fictional art historian Igor Gyalakuthy through his version of Romanian sculpture history as he reconciles a changing world and his own mental decline. The work, which began as a series of scholarly articles in 2014, shines a light on Romanian art while telling the story of a man insisting to be heard after decades of censorship. The story concludes with a tribute to Igor's legacy by the professor's daughter Ana Maria, herself an art historian and lover of Romanian art.
